Last Exit to Montauk Book Review

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by on this beautiful day for another book review. Today I have the pleasure of reviewing Last Exit to Montauk by Phillip Vega. I was gifted this book for my unbiased review. So let’s begin.

First, the opening is very interesting. The book is written in first person. We meet our main character and get inside of his head. There is an instant connection to what he is seeing and feeling. The character is definitely strolling down memory lane and it’s fun to watch. The author does a great job of showing the readers what goes on in the world around the character and conveying this through the characters actions. He writes in a way where the reader will feel the emotions the characters feel.

What takes place is this sweet love story between our main character and his love interest B. A girl in the supermarket sparks his conversation with the reader to tell us what led him and B to the point that they are now. The setting of the story takes place in the 80’s when pizza and Lost Boys where all the range with movie dates and friendly competition. Playful hitting represented liking someone and the person you had a crush on landed in front of you unexpectedly. Mr. Vega, portrays this elegantly and we can get a front row seat into the world wind of coming of age. The book is 388 pages long and worth the read through to the end. So curl up to a cozy corner this fall and check out this book.

Peace & Love
